She's 100!

Marie Strandwold celebrated her 100th birthday on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Channel Point in Hoquiam with her family, which includes a son and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her many friends also joined in the celebration.

Strandwold and her late husband, Silvan, moved to Hoquiam in 1929, where she has lived ever since. "I think it's pretty wonderful that I've been allowed to live this long," Strandwold says.

Although she lives at Channel Point, her home for the last six years, the staff says she is very independent and requires no special services. She still walks and reads, and likes to pass the time by playing games with her many friends at Channel Point.
