Renate LeGresley is one of the friendliest residents to call Grandview home, has a masterful green thumb, and is quite the world traveler. She just returned from a month-long trip to Hepstedt, Germany to visit her family.
A 13-hour flight to Amsterdam, 2.5-hour layover, 2.5-hour flight to Bremen, and 2-hour car ride to meet her sister, Hanelore and brother-in-law, Klause. She says the travel was well worth it, and at 87 years old, she claims she has earned a “runner” at the airport. These folks put her in a wheelchair and ran her right onto the plane!
Renate shared her book of Hepstedt, a farming community where the nearest store is 20 minutes to the next town. She shopped in Bremen, and was so thoughtful, bringing back chocolates for all the staff at Grandview Village. Her tip for travelers heading out of the country is to bring your own medication because it is not always easy to get.
Saying goodbye was hard because she is not guaranteed another visit, but she does have plans to explore China with her son. We can’t wait to hear about their adventures!
