The Riverside East retirement community in Bothell succeeded in raising its goal of $1,600 for the Alzheimer’s Association on June 17.

In order to gather the funds, residents, family and community members put their golf skills to the test at a putting course constructed in the building’s garage. Staff and members from the nearby Northshore Senior Center also came by to join the fun.

The golf event was held on the same day as the summer solstice and attendees logged 16 hours and 55 minutes for the “Longest Day” to honor the challenging journey of those living with Alzheimer’s and the caregivers who make the journey with them.

In addition to the main event, residents and staff are enjoying an entire week of golf in the spirit of the 120th US Open Men’s Golf Tournament that took place at Chambers Bay from June 15-21.
